Have you used your imagination lately? Most of us know that by using our imagination we can experience places or things in our minds. Not many of us are aware of the fact, however, that these imaginations can be powerful enough to manifest into the physical realm.
Some people have been known to use their imagination to visualize themselves with another person’s spouse: forbidden fruit. As a counselor, I’ve listened to such individuals say that they considered these imaginations to be innocent and harmless. They believed that nobody would ever know about what they entertained in the privacy of their own minds.
The problem with that way of thinking is that they found out the hard way how those imaginations worked their way into their physical world over time. Some of you have either experienced that or at least know somebody who has.
We see on the news too often about people going into a school or business to shoot and kill innocent people. These physical manifestations originate from a shooter who uses his imagination to visualize a plan of action.
Our imagination was a gift from God which was intended to help us accomplish good things, not bad. Have you been using your imagination to accomplish something good?
For a lot of years I imagined myself becoming a counselor. In my imagination I visualized me walking across the stage on graduation day to accept my degree. I also visualized clients sitting in my office getting help for their relationships. Those imaginations have made their way into my physical world.
When diagnosed with breast cancer I used my imagination to visualize the Word of God working in my body. Those imaginations manifested into the physical world 18 years ago leaving me cancer free.
For the past year I have been using my imagination to visualize how to better talk to others. I do pretty good when I am beginning a conversation but not so good when responding. That is, when responding to something that feels offensive to me. The scriptures say that a soft answer turns away wrath (Proberbs 15:1) so I needed to soften up. I came to realize that I have the power to communicate in a more godly manner if I only take time to teach my mouth (Proverbs 16:23).
In my book, Character Blocks, I wrote several chapters regarding the “How to’s” of good communication. I have used several of those guidelines and visualize myself communicating in a godly way. There has been some manifestations!! Praise the Lord!
Is there anybody reading this who would like to join me on this continual challenge? Check out the “How to’s” which are based on the scriptures and use your imagination to see yourself relating to others?
Or if you are good in that area consider using your imagination to bring about other good things in your life. Just use this precious gift to consider the beautiful life God planned for you (Jeremiah 1:5) and visualize becoming…
Amen?
Amen!
