Most of us have been in situations that have caused us to ask these questions. We either ask others or intentionally look inward giving consideration to them when we need wisdom. The Bible says if we seek we will find, if we ask it will be given and if we knock it will be opened unto us. So know that if you have a situation that you know not what to do the answer awaits.
The scriptures say, “Does not wisdom cry? And understanding put forth its voice? 2 It stands in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. 3 It cries at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.” (Proverbs 8:1-3, ONM)
No matter what the issue, wisdom cries out to you. Read the examples below.
- Sally listened to Jane share her intentions to cheat on her husband. To hear the details of this well thought out plan was really troubling. Though she had always been there to listen and advise Jane concerning her marital problems Sally now facing a situation that was out of the norm.
Looking inward she searched for answers to: “What do I say?” “What do I do?” “Which way do I go?”
Wisdom was crying out. It was standing at the high places and at the doors of opportunity. And we take it and put it into our hearts.
Because Sally knew the Lord and had hidden His word in her heart Proverbs 27: 5&6 surfaced: “Open rebuke is better than secret love. 6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are abundant.”
She understood that adultery and cheating of any kind would grieve God. Why? Because it is self gratification rather than running to the Father who is able to meet our needs. When we lean on our own understanding it almost always hurts others as well as ourselves.
The following is what Sally said to Jane. “I know you are hurting badly. It has been a long time since you have felt special by your husband but you are running in the wrong direction. Run towards God, not another man. Listen to His words. He can and will make you feel special. And, when that happens your pain will not hinder you from hearing what He says about how to deal with your marital problems, His way.”
- Bob was furious with his neighbor because her dog habitually tore up his Sunday newspaper. This neighbor, a single mother, had tried to secure the dog by keeping it on a chain inside the dog lot but, somehow, the frisky little fellow would find a way to free himself each time the paper landed in the yard across the drive. Even though she took responsibility by replacing the paper and cleaning the mess up Bob’s was ready to explode.
Not knowing what to do or what to say he consulted with his father and received some great wisdom.
The father passed on the wisdom from Matthew 7:12 (Therefore everything that you would want that people would do to you, in this way you must also do to them: for this is the Torah and the Prophets.) He simply suggested that his son help the woman to secure her dog.
The beginning of wisdom is, Acquire wisdom! And with all you have gotten get understanding. (Proverbs 4:7)
Understand that it is wisdom to run towards the Father rather than to another man when you are a married woman. It will not only keep you from the destruction of many relationships but will position you for the construction of a happy, healthy life.
Understand that it is wisdom to let love direct your footsteps rather than anger, revenge, or any other emotion. Love never fails and is beneficial for everyone involved.
Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the post of my doors. (Proverbs 8:34)
So, what issues do you face today? Have you listened for the wisdom that is crying out? If you are having difficulty hearing…seek, ask and knock…and you will find.
Let me hear from you.
Many Blessings to you in this New Year!!!
